Useful Information

What fuel to burn?

When burning wood it is essential that it is well seasoned with a maximum moisture content of 20% but ideally less. If you are not sure if your wood is seasoned you can buy moisture meters to check its moisture levels.

For purchasing wood we recommend A & C Douglas Jones - 01808 521369. www.strathnairnfirewood.co.uk

Briquettes are also great for burning on stoves as they are guaranteed to have low moisture content and is a renewable product.

For recommendations on other fuel types please refer to the HETAS recommended fuel guide for a comprehensive list of fuel to use on your stove. http://www.hetas.co.uk/find-fuels

Chimney Sweep

This is an essential part of maintaining your stove or fireplace and we recommend that you have your chimney swept at least once every year and twice a year if you use your stove more regularly.

We recommend Lyn Chim Chimney – 01463 771828 chimchimeny.com

Hetas – www.hetas.co.uk

HETAS is the regulatory body in England and Wales for Solid fuel appliances and installations. We were the first company in the highlands to become HETAS trained and registered back in 2006. We believe that it is important that our customers can rest assured that the advise we give and the work we carry out is being regulated and therefore voluntarily register and keep ourselves updated on any changes within the Solid Fuel Industry.

Rayburn Guild

We offer a maintenance service for your Solid Fuel Rayburn and are officially registered with the Rayburn Guild.
