ESSE’s stunning range cookers are taking centre stage at Great Glen Stoves in Inverness this December, marking the start of an exciting new partnership between the two brands. To celebrate, chef, food writer, and teacher Tim Maddams will host a “Midwinter Feast” cookery demonstration on Wednesday 10th December, showcasing the exceptional versatility of ESSE’s handcrafted range cookers.
Tim, a long-time advocate of local, seasonal and ethical food, first came to prominence on the hit TV series River Cottage, where ESSE’s iconic Ironheart wood-fired range was a kitchen favourite. Today, from his home in Inverness, he continues to develop recipes for ESSE using ingredients grown in his own kitchen garden.
At Great Glen Stoves, Tim will bring this ethos to life with two inspiring live sessions (1pm–3pm and 4pm–6pm), each featuring a delicious winter menu:
Guests will enjoy tastings, nibbles, and a Q&A session as Tim shares his culinary expertise and insights into cooking on both electric and wood-fired ESSE models.
Tim explains, “ESSE has an incredibly rich heritage founded here in Scotland in 1854 and trusted by explorers like Shackleton yet they’ve always been ahead of their time. The ESSE 1000 X PRO, which I’ll be using during the demonstration, combines that timeless, handcrafted quality with fast heat-up times, precise electric control, and the immediacy of induction cooking. It’s built for modern homes that value both performance and character.”
The Great Glen Stoves team will also be on hand to answer questions about the full ESSE range, from the iconic wood-fired cook stove models to contemporary electric cookers, with custom colour finishes and a variety of hob styles and size options.
Experience the warmth, craftsmanship, and innovation of ESSE and the best of Highland hospitality at this special launch event.
